Churchfield Wall Restoration

The wall which runs along the west side of the churchyard, next to the churchfield has been found in a very poor condition. This is largely due to the small trees and ivy have been allowed to grow into the wall over many years. These have made it bow in places and collapse in others. After clearing all the overgrowth the full extent of the damage could be seen. With the help of Jamie and others, this wall is going to be restored to its former glory.

Right - As you can see from this picture taken from the churchfield looking towards the church, there are a lot of overgrown trees and brambles. These have been blocking out the light to the church and causing a lot of damage to the gravestones and the wall which lies somewhere in the middle of this lot.

Right - Now with this overgrowth removed you can see some of the damage which has been caused to the wall. Plus you can now see the nice big Yew trees in their full glory. Inside of the church there is much more light entering through the stained glass window.

Right - Some more of this damaged wall.
