Local Village Attractions
Although we do not have any major attractions within our village, other than the church, we are surrounded by some lovely countryside which has plenty of footpaths for either a leisurely stroll or an enthusiastic walk. Mynydd Illtyd Common is only a five minute drive from our village and is situated on high ground - in clear weather has some fantastic views of Pen-y-Fan thoughout the year. You can stroll up towards the old Iron-age fort remains or head over towards the Brecon Beacons National Visitor Centre for a cup of tea. On your strolls around keep a look out for the red kites flying above.
If you fancy something a bit different, why not try mountainboarding at Penpont. All kit is provided including lifts to the top of the slope. Again this is only about a five minute drive from our village.
A visit here would not be complete without at least seeing Pen-y-Fan (highest mountain in South Wales) and it is well worth the effort involved to climb it. This would normally take about an hour in pleasant weather conditions to get to the top. The car parking area is only about 20 minutes away at The Storey Arms.
As for the other attractions around this area, well there are just too many to list here, but we have included a couple of web links to some.
